Bridgwater Under 14s Mixed Team had a festival at Kings College on Sunday morning, playing five games (Wellington Fox’s, Taunton Civil Service, Taunton Vale, Yeovil & Sherborne and Chard). Everyone showed great determination and commitment throughout the morning, improving after every game.

Bridgwater were unlucky not to find the net in their first game against Welllington with some good attacking play from Trystan, Lucas, Toby and Oliver. The second game against Civil Service saw some solid defending from Ophelia and Arden against some strong and tall opposition but the team were unlucky again not to find a goal.

Growing in confidence as the morning progressed, and showing some lovely team play and stick skills, passing the ball into space and moving it up the pitch well. The team's first goal came in a 3-0 win against Yeovil & Sherborne. Lucas found himself at the top of the D and swept the ball into the bottom corner. The second came from some quick counter attacking play starting off at the back with Lilly and Lucy, who were able to find Toby up the pitch. He dribbled his way into the D and slapped the ball firmly into the backboard. Toby was able to find his second of the match, again from some quick break away hockey from the back, positioning himself well in the D to lift the ball over the charging goalkeeper.

The final game of the day was a 1-1 draw against Chard, this time Trystan getting the goal only a few minutes into the game. The team were unlucky not to find the winning goal.

Overall a very enjoyable morning, the whole squad performed superbly and played some excellent, exciting hockey! Thank you for Sheila Burridge and Joe Syvret for umpiring and coaching the team and to all the parents who came and supported!
