So close to more points

After a two week break, the 3’s started the game brightly and were unlucky not to be in front within the first five minutes when Steph Parsons uncharacteristically missed getting on the end of a great cross into D. Cheddar pressed forward at every opportunity and Bridgwater soon found themselves 2 down, the Cheddar forwards quick to find any gaps in the Bridgwater defence. The 3’s were not disheartened, mounting several attacks and gaining a number of short corners. A solid strike from Shannon Johnson at one corner went under the keepers foot to bring the deficit back to 1 goal.
The second half saw some great hockey from Bridgwater, both in attack and in defence with Player of the match, Sam Mirto, making a number of important saves and clearances in goal. Bridgwater defenders Linda Hay and Lydia Helmsley worked well together to keep Cheddar from scoring and Bridgwater took every opportunity to attack, Kath Briggs and Steph Parsons both shooting wide. Despite winning yet more short corners the score remained at 2-1 with Bridgwater unfortunate not to claim a draw when Molly Symes’s strike was disallowed for being marginally outside the D. Although the same score line as the home fixture earlier in the season, the game showed the continuing team improvement.
