A sunny Saturday morning saw the Ladies’ 3’s travel to Taunton Vale.
Bridgwater attacked straight from the whistle and some excellent interaction between midfield and forwards saw Bridgwater camped in the Vale half.
Communication was strong and the midfield of Katie, Sue C, Nat and Miche consistently advanced the ball to Kath, Bev, Shannon and Phe up front who continually hassled the Vale defence and goalie.
Despite the pressure from Bridgwater one break from Vale saw then go 1-0 up going into the second half.
The second half continued very much like the first with good attacking attempts from Bridgwater and the solid defence of Meg, Linda and Jenny, along with some lovely saves from Sue in goal, kept out any further chances from Vale.
Unfortunately, against the flow of play, Bridgwater were unable to covert their attacking into a goal and the final score was 1-0 to Vale.
A very frustrating result considering how well the team played. Some days the ball just doesn’t want to go in the goal!
Congratulations to Katie who got the well-deserved motm . Special mention to Sue D who played her final game for us – she will be very missed as part of the team. Thank you for everything Sue.
