Bottom of the table clash, debuts galore!

Bridgwater travelled to Firebrands on a day that looked like it was set for rain. Despite clouds, the game started at 17:00.

There were a couple of debutants this week as twins Oscar and Edward Taylor played their first adult game. It was also a long awaited return of Rhys Morgan and return to action for Jim Smith and Alan Baldwin.

When the game started both teams looked evenly matched with Firebrands looking the slightly stronger of the 2 as they broke and got through with Christian Durkin making some key saves. The two walls Baldwin and Alex McNeil kept pretty much everyone at bay. Harvey Larcombe was put to use in the centre of midfield, where he excelled. Aaron Turner looked solid going forward, creating several chances and getting some key short corners. But Firebrands struck first as they continued to create and finally got a bit of luck. Bridgwater continued with Smith, Morgan and Larcombe in the middle with James Harmer making some mazy runs. Oscar and Edward Taylor got into the game well and battled hard.

The second half started with Bridgwater not too far behind. This was due to some great defensive plays from the ‘Wall’ as well as the central midfield. As Bridgwater got tired the 15 men of Firebrands could sense blood and pressed. Bridgwater changed things about to get a goal but that left them light at the back. Firebrands scored 2 very late goals.

Overall a good debut for the two Taylor’s who look good for the future. Man of the match was close but Harvey Larcombe won it for his awesome performance in the centre of the park. Well done all.
