Too much experience into opposing team

This week marked the count down to the end of the season, so with only four games left Bridgwater’s 4XI looked to play free of any expectation and enjoy themselves. Playing a top of the table side was always going to be fun.

The match started with Bridgwater on the back foot from the off as ECVH had a highly experienced team. Christian Durkin made a good save with newbie Kristian West, Steve Morrish, Phil Pyke and Luke Otley all very busy with the two young backs proving very handy with their pace. Pyke made some key clearances, with the central midfield of Steve Miller and Sam Thomas playing key roles in breaking down ECVH attacks. No matter what ECVH seemed to throw at Bridgwater, they couldn’t score, and a quick Bridgwater break from Kieran Barrow, to Trystan Hudson was nearly put in by Will Marchent-Saunders. This woke up ECVH who then scored two quick goals to put themselves into a good position. Bridgwater didn’t give up and with some fresh legs, Oscar West, Toby Knight and Jame Harmer came onto the pitch and upped the ante when they could. James Kettlewell came onto the pitch to help in defence but ECVH just ploughed forward.

Bridgwater had a rousing half time team talk but unfortunately it was much of the same. Knight had now moved to a more defensive role which helped no end. Oscar West and Hudson forged forward when they could, with Marchent-Saunders doing his best as the lone striker. Otley kept his head with Kristian West looking unbeatable at the back, and helped keep the score down, along with Thomas and Pyke who looked impressive in a defensive mid role. Kettlewell and Miller nearly combined to score a goal, which would have been well deserved. Barrow and Harmer didn’t give up either, but eventually ECVH did manage to get two more goals.

Well played to all this week for holding onto a game that the young team was out matched. Man of the match was very tight with second place going to Trystan Hudson, with joint men of the match Oscar West and Kristian West.
