A welcome yet uncharacteristically warm Saturday for November, an experienced opposition, us - the newly promoted home side, what a match it was going to be! The full 70 minutes were an end to end battle, with both teams creating chances! Bridgwater started the stronger of the two teams, putting in the hard graft early on and winning an early short corner, which was well saved by the Teign keeper. This did not deter the team, and we kept applying the pressure! The first half was a stalemate with both teams perhaps afraid to concede first, with a score line going into half time at 0-0. The second half was a different story, with both teams putting everything on the line to get ahead! Bridgwater managed to score first after a superbly worked short corner between Player of the Match Sapphy Reed-Yang and goal scorer Lucy Burridge, who slammed the ball into the backboard! Teign responded immediately however with a scrappy goal of their own after a little mix up in marking from Bridgwater. 1-1. Game on. The next few minutes were intense, with heavy tackles coming in from both sides. But both defences held firm from the waves of attack on both sides. Teign managed to get the next goal with a good piece of skill to roof the ball into the side netting, but absolutely no way were we going to accept a loss here. Bridgwater gave every single last bit of energy to put together a final attack, and found a golden foot in the Teign circle. Injected perfectly by Donna Cooper to co-Captain Laura Coles, who slammed the ball towards the P-spot, and of course there Lorraine Hollidge was, for a cheeky touch over the back line! 2-2 final score! It is hard to comeback after being behind, but Bridgy gave it everything and ensured we came away with an important point! On we march!
