BRIDGWATER KEEP UNBEATEN RUN GOING AWAY TO EXETER UNI!

Bridgwater kept their unbeaten start to the season going with an away win against Exeter University 7s!

Bridgwater's second away game of the season saw them travel down to Exeter to face a young, fast, well drilled Exeter Uni side, who had already scored 9 goals in their opening 2 games, winning both and were sat at the top of the league.

The home side put a lot of pressure on Bridgwater from the very start, not giving any of the midfielders time on the ball and forcing them to make a few mistakes and lose possession of the ball.

It was the home side who opened the scoring with a short corner. Drag flicking the ball low and hard to keeper, Pete's, right hand side. With the low sun facing Bridgwater's goal, made it difficult for the team on the line to be able to react quick enough to prevent the shot from going in.

This only spurred the Bridgwater side on, as they starting to gain some momentum going forward, creating some chances at the Uni sides goal. One chance leading to the equaliser, a quick counter attack from Bridgwater catching the Uni side on the back foot. The attack lead by Duncan Morrish, was able to get the ball into the D, where there were a handful of Bridgwater players waiting to convert the chance. The homes sides keeper making a first initial save, but not clearing it fully, landing it towards forward, Charles Grossey, who was able to slot it into the back of the net.

Bridgwater's second of the game came soon after. A short corner injected to the top of the D by Rob Morrish, found inform, Tom Lott, who struck the ball hard towards the goalkeepers right hand side. This shot seemed to have been going wide of the post, but for injector Morrish, only to be able to get his stick to gracefully get a touch on the ball to guide it back towards the goal and past the Exeter defence. This putting Bridgwater 2-1 up at the break. Not only through their attacking intent, but also the hard work and effort from the defence group to keep the Uni sides forwards at bay.

The 1s kept this intensity and effort going into the start of the second half, where the Uni side were unable to get the ball out of their own half for the first 10-15 minutes. Bridgwater putting immense pressure on the home side, forcing short corner after short corner but sadly, being unable to convert any and increase their lead.

After being able to sustain the Bridgwater attacks, the Uni side had some attacks of their own, one of the attacks leading to the equaliser. Putting the game back level with 15 minutes to go.

Bridgwater kept on pushing, working hard in all areas of the pitch, stopping the home side from being able to score the winner and working hard up the pitch to look for one themselves. Their hard work was rewarded with 10 minutes to go, where a well worked Bridgwater hit out found Rhys Morgan on the right handside, who was able to find Jordan Rawles ahead of him. Who still had a lot of work todo, sprinting with the ball down the right handside of the D, who then delivered an exquisite ball into the path of Lott who was able to strike the ball with his first touch into the far corner of the goal. A well orchestrated Bridgwater attack leading to the winning goal to round off an exceptional team performance.

With this win, it puts Bridgwater 3rd in the league, only 2 point behind joint leaders, Westbury and Isca.

Next weekend the 1s face Minehead at home. Minehead will be looking to find their first win of the season whereas, Bridgwater will be looking to extend their unbeaten run and get another home win. 1:30pm pushback at #FortressChilton
