As the final weekend of friendlies has been played and the summer officially draws to a close, I want to take a look back on the summer of '24, BWHC edition!

This summer was unlike any other... and by that I mean not a single bit of sun! Whilst the sun didn't shine for long, and the tans were not looking golden, we had some sparkling performances on the pitch! Our annual intraclub summer league was another successful one, this time to match the Olympic year, the tournament theme was the ancient greeks, with team names matching! The winners this year were the Johnson Jupiters who may have only just won the tournament in the final showdown on penalty flicks, but they had dominated the league and were very worthy winners! Well done to Captain Shan and the Jupiters (Up the Jup Jups!). The post summer league pint club tradition also continued again, with an extra rule of outdoor pints only! Even in the rain! Top commitment from the pint clubbers!

In other summer news, our annual Stick It To Cancer charity day was a huge success. Whilst the weather was incredibly kind to us, the cakes for the bake sale were not so kind on the old waist lines... But if I am *forced* to eat 7 cakes, I can definitely do that for charity! The day started with the women's match that was in aid of Breast Cancer Now, and the ladies looked fabulous in their pink and white gear! The gents followed, with their match in aid of Prostate Cancer UK, sporting the red and blue kit! It was a wonderful day and £1262.80 was raised, smashing our one grand goal! Thank you to everyone who helped organise the event, and to everyone who supported it!

Another cracking summer with the best club in the world! But now the real work begins! A big thanks to the committee for all their behind the scenes work to get the club ready for the new year! And a huge good luck to all our teams in their league campaigns for the 2024-25 season! I smell a promotion coming, but to which team? We shall have to see! Go smash it Bridgy!
