Minehead 2s 0 Bridgwater 2s 6

Ladies 2s took the short trip to Minehead hoping to keep the pressure on in the race for promotion and they didnt disappoint.
Bridgwater started the game and pushed Minehead back into their own D within minutes. Bridgwater won a short corner which Cheryl Notaro Livingstone scored with a deflection off the minehead defender. Bridgwater continued the pressure and some excellent link play between Tara Russel and Miche Rushe saw the ball go forward again quickly allowing Danni Morgan to sweep the ball into the Minehead goal.
Jess Shobbrook put some great pressure on the minehead forwards again from the push back, winning the ball and driving forward. This time it was Clare Wilson on the scoresheet with a sweep from the top of the D.
Again Bridgwater would not let minehead out of their half and drove the ball forward. Rose Baker then took a great shot that flew into the Minehead goal.
Bridgwater slowed a little coming to the end of the first half and allowed Minehead to put them under pressure. This was well controlled by Bridgwaters defenders who held another clean sheet today.
The second half started promising again for Bridgwater who played some excellent hockey today, playing a possession game and patiently working the ball up the pitch. It wasnt long before they were rewarded another short corner and Cheryl stepped up to score her second of the game. Determined to get her hat trick Cheryl took the opportunity to take a strike from the top of the D shortly after which beat the keeper at the post.
Bridgwater again raised their goal difference in the league today keeping the pressure on for the top spots.
Man of the match went to Tara Russel for her solid display in midfiled.
Ladies 2s play their last game of the season next week with a must win game against Winscombe 4s to secure promotion.
