Bridgwater 2s 4 Winscombe 3s 4

The ladies 2s had their most difficult game of the season this week against Winscombe 3s just below them in the league.

Winscombe started the stronger team with Bridgwater allowing them lots of time to play the ball around, Bridgwater found themselves 2 0 down within the first 10 minutes of the game. Bridgwater kept their heads up and began linking well. The defence of Jenny Hayden Briffet, Vicky Redwood and Rachel Higgs moved tighter on the Winscombe attackers and they could not get their shots on target. Bridgwater played the ball around the pitch well and with a good ball into the D from Cheryl Notaro Livingstone finding Abbie Stevens who was able to slot the ball past the Winscombe keeper. Bridgwater were unlucky not to go into half time with even score with a well worked short corner going back to injecter Miche Rushe and her shot going just wide.
Bridgwater started the second half a lot more positive,playing the ball around the pitch to keep the pressure on the Winscombe defence. They were soon rewarded with a second goal from a strike from a short corner from Cheryl bringing the scores level.
Bridgwater were determined to get more goals and put an excellent press on Winscombe who found it difficult to get the ball from their half for a period of the game. Bridgwater won another short corner which they converted to a penalty strike after Miches shot was stopped on the line by a Winscombe foot. Cheryl stepped up and calmly slotted the ball past the Winscombe keeper making it 3 2 to Bridgwater.
Winscombe restarted the game with some good attacking play but Bridgwater did well to keep clearing the ball down the pitch. Eventually there was a scramble in the D and winscombe equalised again.
Bridgwater again did not let this get their heads down and showed how well they have worked as a team all season,keeping eachother going. They found the goal again from a side line ball passed to the top of the D,miche put a great ball into Cheryl who finished it off for her hat trick.
Winscombe however didn't stop there and were also determined to get some points from the game,they won a short corner which they converted to bring the scoreline level again.
Bridgwater had one last chance in the game with a short corner in the closing minutes. Unfortunately the Winscombe keeper made a strong save denying Bridgwater what would have been a well deserved win.
The final score line was 4-4 which the ladies 2s should be very proud of after coming back from 2-0 down.
Man of the match went to Cheryl Notaro Livingstone for her excellent attacking play today.

Bridgwater travel to Taunton Vale next week hoping to be back to their winning ways.
