It was weird playing in the dark on a Tuesday!

The women’s 1s put in an excellent performance against a strong side from Taunton Vale. Bridgwater had a bit of a nervy start (blame it on Storm Dennis), and were quickly backed into their own half to defend against some good attacks from Vale. Some excellent defending from players of the match Laura Coles and Charlie Lewis kept the opposition at bay, and an excellent penalty save from keeper Amy Burridge denied Vale to get on the score board! Bridgwater eventually found their rhythm, and returned the favour to Vale, pinning them in their own half and testing the defence. Bridgwater won a short corner, and skipper Sapphy Reed-Yang opened the scoring with a deflection into the roof of the net, ably assisted by a strong ball from Coles. Vale retaliated with a quick counterattack, but this did not deter the team. After a good half time talk Bridgwater came out all guns blazing, managing to get another goal from a strong strike from Charlotte East. Bridgwater dominated the main passages of play of the game but an unfortunate mishap late in the second half enabled Vale to equalise. Bridgwater were proud of their performance in testing conditions but will look to get all three points next week away to Firebrands.
