Bridgwater get 3 important points on the board following a gutsy and determined performance!

The women’s 1s put in an excellent shift against strong opposition from Minehead. The team started well with some good attacking play, but an unfortunate break from Minehead saw them win a penalty corner from a foot in the D, which permitted the visitors to begin the match 1-0 up. Bridgwater responded well with a great pass from Laura Coles to Sapphy Reed-Yang who managed to pop it past the keeper. 1-1. An excellent save from goalkeeper Amy Burridge during a penalty stroke kept the dream alive for the team, handing them the opportunity to refocus and believe in themselves going into the second half. After some back and forth play Bridgwater were determined to get the necessary goals. After some great attacking moves from Lauren Morrish, Bridgwater won a penalty corner, with Emma Hill slotting the ball neatly underneath the keeper. 2-1. Minehead managed to respond with a goal, but the determination to get the 3 points on the board was apparent in the team, with Gwen Thomas scoring her debut goal for the side. Bridgwater put on a gutsy and well disciplined performance and have their first win of the league under their belts which will spur them on for next week, facing Firebrands at home. Player of the match went to Charlie Lewis for her solid work in the centre, enabling Bridgwater to perform well in attack and defence.
