Well battled but annoying result

Bridgwater thirds arrived at Clifton Robinsons knowing they would have a tough game on their hands from the team currently 4th in the league who still had a possibility of promotion. As expected Robinsons started strongly and the Bridgwater goal was soon under siege. However it didn't take long for Bridgwater to show the team spirit that got them a win at 2nd place OBs in their last outing and they were unlucky not to take an early lead, firstly from a mazy run and strike from Aaron Turner and then a slightly off target strike from Steve Turvey. Robinsons then went down that other end and scored a controversial goal when the ball struck an attackers foot, to which the umpire waved play on, and the opposition took advantage of a hesitant defence waiting for a whistle. The game opened up after that and following some nice, accurate passing and great running Turvey levelled the scoring with a well worked goal. However the Clifton outfit finished the half on the front foot with a less controversial goal. Second half started as the first one finished with more end to end hockey and again with Robinsons scoring another controversial goal, this time a foot in the D that neither umpires spotted. Turner did get a goal back but despite a lot of pressure from Bridgey, there was to be no further change to the score with Robinsons winning 3-2. Most of the man of the match votes went to returning players Kody Fludgate and Sam Sweatman, with the latter receiving the award.
