U12 January 2022

Our Junior team took part in the U12 hockey festival at Chard. The first tournament of 2022!
The team, despite missing a few players, were able to pull together and play some impressive hockey. Bridgwater's first game was against TCS Girls B. Bridgwater worked hard whilst TCS Girls took possession, and had a couple attempts at goal with Fred making some brilliant saves. Unfortunately TCS Girls hard work paid off and they were able to get an early goal. However, Bridgwater kept their heads up and Will, Harry and Alicia worked well together to drive the ball into the D. After a few attempts Will was finally able to hit the ball past the keeper to keep Bridgwater in the game. With some great play from both sides the game finished as a 1-1 draw.
After a short break, Bridgwater then played TCS girls A. After playing well together in the first game, Bridgwater seemed more confident and were able to score early on. Leaving them 1-0 up. TCS Girls made a few attempts at possession, but some brilliant tackles from Matilda stopped them from coming into the D. Sasha was able to drive the ball up the pitch, and play a brilliant pass to Harry who was then able to score a second goal for Bridgwater. Bridgwater continued to hold possession which allowed Alicia to take a shot, which went straight past the keeper and into the goal. Fred had an amazing tournament, pulling off some brilliant saves from a couple lifted shots. This allowed Bridgwater to come away with a 4-0 win. Bridgwater played Yeovil where they again, made some impressive passes and managed to hold possession for the majority of the game. Some brilliant, wide positioning from Isabel and Sophie, allowed the ball to travel well across the pitch. A brilliant run from Harry allowed him to hit the ball past the keeper and secure a 1-0 win.
Games against TSC boys and Chard girls saw Bridgwater work hard. Despite good defending from Evie and Jorja Bridgwater struggled to keep possession and unfortunately lost both games.
Everyone put in a great effort and really enjoyed the tournament.
Thank you to Joe for his encouragement throughout, Bridget for umpiring and to the parents for their brilliant support.
